The bagels are good, and the service is efficient. Neither adjective are stellar in any way, but it is certainly at par. I am particularly fond of such treats as the pumpkin bagel and the honey-almond scmear. They're delicious together. I prefer my bagel toasted, and they will gladly run it through the toaster for you. As a breakfast, I imagine that it is a bit cheaper and significantly more healthful (though what isn't?) than an egg-McMuffin. Beyond the basic info, I can think of nothing so negative nor outstandingly positive to say about this location of Einstein Bros Bagels, but as this is a bagel joint, not haute cuisine, so an unexciting review indicates expectation, not disappointment. Bon appetite!

After my last contact with management there's been some improvement. They're cleaner (including some new employees), faster, and are getting the orders right the first time. Most importantly...the coffee is hot. I also feel it necessary to call someone out when they're rude or mean...ESPECIALLY if in management and representing a company. The first manager I ever spoke with, Gabby, was pleasant. Let me preface my next statement by sharing that because I often have trouble hearing, I read mouths very well. I was disappointed to "hear" the very rude and inappropriate comments Gabby made about me while I was waiting in line in the drive-thru. I assume she was off the clock. Weeks later when she was handing over my coffee I addressed her about it and she denied it, but was clearly embarrassed. I will continue to return here for my coffee a few times a week. I hope the changes stick. Thank you GM, Edy (sp?), for the improvements made.

Disclaimer: this review is JUST for this location. Einstein Bagels has much better locations, but this is the one nearest to Corporate Woods, and as such it's the one I'm reviewing. I've been to this location dozens of times, and I can count on 2 fingers how many times I've had a satisfactory experience. If it doesn't take entirely too long to get your food, they'll mess something up on your order. If they miraculously get your order correct, it's going to take a half hour to get your bagel and coffee. This is a breakfast/coffee spot. CONVENIENCE MATTERS. This location completely lacks any urgency, given their target market is 9-5'ers. Listen, I'll concede that the food above here is above average, but the management is so abysmal I CANNOT justify making this apart of my morning routine any longer.

I usually don't write reviews but felt after multiple horrible experiences with this location I needed to share. From what I have read from the other reviewers, it sounds like I am not the only one. Let me preface this by saying I love Einstein bros and my negative comments are for this location only. It is extremely unfortunate that this is the closest location to my house. I usually order the same thing each visit: iced black tea and nova lox. I have been here probably 5 times and each time I have walked away disappointed. The tea tastes mucky and like they have never cleaned the containers it is served in. The workers who have made the nova lox each time I've ordered it obviously take no pride in their job or the product they serve. I feel lucky if I get all of the ingredients on the bagel. This last one I bought had one sliver of lox on it and the tomatoes had clearly been sitting out for awhile. If you love Einstein bros like I do and are reading this, consider yourself warned. This location will be a much different experience. My hope is that management reads these reviews and takes the criticism to heart. Please please improve this location!!

Came in to order lunch to-go today. Writing this review while waiting. Disappointed to see four staff members chatting behind the cabinet, not a single one acknowledging the line of 8 people waiting in line to order while they argued who would prepare the food for those in the drive thru. The floor behind the cabinet is filthy and covered in food and trash. The staff members are literally standing in trash! Not a single staff member was wearing a hair net; one employee with extremely long and "big" hair actually had her hair in the "fresh" ingredients when she bent over. Not a single person seems to know their job. Not a single person has smiled, asked if there was anything else I wanted with my order. Not a single person has acknowledged that they have served four customers who I was in front of in-line. Disorganized. Poorly managed. Filthy conditions. Insanitary food prep. No hair nets. Some staff do not wear gloves while preparing food. It is a shame to see conditions like this in the heart of JOCO during the lunch hour!

Love, love, love this place. Super fast, and friendly. Blonde female manager is outstanding. She's always helping out and saying hi to everyone. Fresh bagels and many light cream cheese options make this place my first choice for breakfast when I'm in the area. Fresh squeezed o.j.!

Good Food. I agree with the previous statement about the drive thru worker and the drive thru can take a LONG time sometimes. They've messed up my order a couple of times but mostly they Great!

My family frequents this location often on the weekends. As some of the reviews note, there was a huge slip in service a couple of months ago--rude employees, inefficient management, etc. However, things have been much better lately, and from what I understand, the management has recently changed. Worth a try!

Love the turkey bagel thin. I'm on Weight Watchers, and it only 7 points. The wait in the drive-thru is a little crazy at times, but you know that going in. One of my favorites.

Horrible experience! Drive thru service was inexcusably slow. 2 coffees overfilled and spilled on my hand when handed out and then spilled in my car. Asked for cream and sugar at the window, unknown to me he added it to both my coffees instead of putting in bag. I wanted one black, he didn't even ask or think of that. Gave me 4 drinks and I had to ask for a drink holder which he had to "go find" in the store. Also had to ask for napkins which I needed immediately to clean my car! Once at my hotel, beagles were poorly made with little spread and only partially covering the beagle. Never again will we go here!

I decided to give them another try. I stopped in at 8a for a bagel and a cup of Joe. All three coffee urns were empty, all they had ready was decaf. I'm done.

headed here last weekend to grab a quick bite with my husband and little guy. my husband just grabbed a bagel and cream cheese and I had a bagel thin sandwich with turkey sandwich and salsa. my little guy just nibbled on a bagel thin with a little of my husband's cream cheese. we also both had coffee. all this for what we probably could have spent at a diner for a more complete breakfast. the food was okay. the salsa wasn't as good on the bagel as I was hoping. really, what should I have been hoping for? but I really like how relaxed we felt in there. it was pretty quiet and peaceful in there for being an order at the counter type of place. no, I probably wouldn't rush back there but I definitely know what to expect when I do.

I really enjoy their bagels, and their bagel sandwiches. I wish we could get one in Lincoln, NE!!!

  • Heather M.

Mediocre. The food, the service, the atmosphere. It's not bad enough to complain, but I can't give it any rave reviews either. I'd never think to go here if it wasn't seconds from work. I go because it's convenient, but I wouldn't go out of my way. The bagels are pretty meh, but the good quality coffee averages the place out to...well, average. Try Brueggers if you're looking for a decent chain bagel place in the area.

It's better than the store on 135th St. However, they do not have any concept of cleaning tables and chairs. You have to clean them yourself before you sit down. The coffeepots are frequently empty and you have to tell them that they are empty. Is the staff being held accountable for anything?

Ordered a dozen bagels and cream cheese bundle today. I could hardly hear the girl in the drive through window, they really need a new speaker or something. Got home and made my bagels, took a huge bite and almost puked. The sundried tomato cream cheese tasted like fish. I checked the expiration date and sure enough, it expired 12 days ago! I had slathered it all over 2 different bagels so had to throw those away, plus I'm pregnant so I really hope I don't get sick from the expired food!!

Went through the drive through today to pick up a bucket of bagels and a couple of coffees for a meeting. The parking lot was full, I was running short on time AND the drive through was packed, so I was concerned. However, I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Yay! Should be 4 stars. However, when I got to the meeting, the bagels were not sliced? Really? I knew they wouldn't be toasted, but I didn't think I had to ask to have them sliced. Lesson learned. Minus one star. We sawed them with plastic knives. They still tasted yummy.

I would have walked out shortly after entering except I was meeting others who had chosen this place. Why would I have left? The place was so nasty. Trash on the floor, dirty tables, newspapers on the seats and floor. The guy that took my order had some nasty looking hair and zero customer service skills. The location for beverages looked like some frat party had just ended there. There were very few customers in the place but plenty of employees. Obviously nobody was on "tidy" duty. Before leaving I needed to use the restroom but there was NO WAY I was going in there! I can only imagine how filthy it was. And I always wonder in an operation like this if the employees are washing their hands! Food: Really? They didn't have the nine grain bread or any bread for that matter for sandwiches. It's before noon and they have no bread. Okay, they put my $7.50 "sandwich" on a bagel. How on earth do you call two small tablespoons of tuna a sandwich? I nearly needed a magnifying glass to see it. The tomato was definitely not fresh. I can't speak for the tuna because there was so little of it the taste of the "ready for the dumpster" tomato dominated the taste of the "sandwich." There was a time when I loved having lunch at Einstein's but that time has now passed. As I'm typing this I notice Brandon M. has been in there with similar complaints in the past few days. Something is seriously wrong and corporate at Einstein's needs to get their heads in the game. Johnson County is not a place where something that looks and tastes like that operation will stay in business. It's not about being snobby. It's about being aware of dirty restaurant conditions. I sure hope no visitors to the city make the mistake of stopping in there. It's downright embarrassing!

A little slow, but I appreciate their drive thru. I'd prefer longer hours. They could use a face lift. I definitely prefer Einstein products over other bagel places in the area.

Takes an unreasonably long time to get your order. If you go in past 9 there won't be anywhere to sit, as most tables will still have trash on them. Though there are plenty of people who are "working" only a couple are doing anything. You'll wait, did I mention that? The order register is used for both inside patrons and drive thru. So if you go inside you'll have to wait to place your order. Seriously, a simple sandwich will take at minimum 10 minutes. And if you order a latte... forget about it. They won't even start it until you tell them you're still waiting on it, long after you've gotten your food and is more than likely cold.

Always been a fan of EB Bagels even back to the Bagel and Bagel days. This location on College Blvd. is pretty busy in the morning, dies down after the rush hour, then picks up again for lunch. Staff here are always friendly and service is always quick. Lots of good options to choose from and several different blends of great coffee to keep you twitching in the mornings. I'm an East Coast honk and love my bagels crisp. Though EB's bagels are pretty good, they are more chewy and "bready" than crispy. My dad even describes than as "white bread with a whole." This is obviously a personal preference but it prevents me from giving EB any more than three stars. Don't let this deter you - they still serve up good combos of food and drink at a good price.

Read all of the other reviews and you will hear the same thing. Great food, horrible speed. The drive-Thru here is useless. 25 minute wait? Today was the last straw. I would rather eat Burger King and make it to work on time than risk losing a job over a bagel. Seriously.

Yum! Prefer these bagels over Panera (All too often Panera is a tad on the burn/crunchy side for me) and I love their holiday coffee.

Pretty good bagels, freshly made & chewy like a bagel should be -- I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to that, but I do like my everything bagel with a schmear. In the fall they do a pumpkin bagel, which is awesome. But, beware! The drive-thru line gets ridiculously backed up, plus, for some reason, my bagel comes out SQUISHED about half the time when I order in the drive-thru. What's up with that?? Why on earth does someone squish the bagel? I really can't come up with an explanation for it. If you know, please message me. Anyway, for these reasons, I have lately eschewed the drive-thru and just gone into the restaurant, which is pleasant & roomy, although it always seems to be a little cluttered & disordered by eight o'clock in the morning, when the rush starts to dissipate. But the service is friendly & my bagel is still round. Genius.

I think their bagels are a bit too soft and look a little too perfect. True New York style bagels should be dense and chewy. I've had much worse elsewhere so I can't criticize too much. Trying to understand why their garlic bagels have sesame seeds on them. I had no problems with drive through or inside. Good effort for the mid-west.

I spent 15 minutes in drive-thru to get a bagel and coffee. As I was running out of time and still a car ahead of me at the window. I went inside and no one was in line. So either they had one hugely complex order or they are ill-equipped to handle more than two guests at one time. Either way, management doesn't care. I asked if they are always this slow. (Had I read Foursquare comments before hand, I'd have know the answer is Yes.) Her response was on Sunday morning, yes. Looking at a dining room that was less than 25% full, I said I can see why. Done with Einstein. Next time Panera.

So, I love Einstein. There are two locations around my house - this one, and the one on 135th. I officially dislike them both, but for very different reasons. The bagels here are way better than the one on 135th, which are smaller and just taste cheap compared to any other Einstein's locations I've had. This one on College is still awful when it comes to speed. However, you need your Einstein's sometimes, am I right? So, I am forced to take the lesser of two evil locations and come to the one on College. The inside is nice. It's clean. The people aren't rude (though not overly friendly aside from one guy who EVERYONE knows). The issue here is still speed...sooooo slow. By the time you get your toasted bagel, it's no longer warm. This place has serious issues with their assembly line when I order a bagel toasted, eat it AT the restaurant in sight of the toaster, and it's barely warm. Why? Because they make it and sit on it for several minutes before finally getting around to giving it to the customer. I was hoping things might change over time, but it's clear that this is their method at the College location. Just...beware.

Einsteins are pretty universal. They have a good variety of bagels and shmears. The Jalapeno Salsa has a nice kick that wakes me up before work. I admit it, I happen to like their coffee especially the winter blend. If I'm not digging the seasonal blend, I will mix the vanilla hazelnut and the French roast. Also, it's nice they have boxed bagels with napkins and knives ready for purchase. Included with the bakers dozen are two tubs of shmear. The one downside to this location which most people would view as a plus is the drive-thru. The person they have working the window can be quite surly. Otherwise, everyone else is really fast and friendly inside the store.

I think they were having some system issues with their drive thru bc the line was not moving for quite sometime. I decided to run inside (I just had a craving for a bagel and cream cheese) thinking it would be way quicker since there weren't any customers in line inside. I ordered and placed my order a couple times bc the cashier kept having to switch between registers. I pay for my bagel and wait. Another gentleman places his larger order shortly after me. Tell me why he gets his food first? I simply asked for one bagel (not toasted may I add) with plain cream cheese. About 5 or so minutes passes. I see the 4 employees slowly moving around filling orders. One male worker just kept standing there looking lost. After about 10 minutes they hand me my order. I was kind of annoyed so I just grabbed it and left thinking there's no way they could've messed up my order. I get in my car and open the bag and it's not even what I asked for. They give me some toasted bagel with some random spread. I mean really?? Oh and as I left the parking lot I notice the same car that was at the order box in the drive thru STILL in the drive thru lane!! Where's the urgency?! Had the employees apologized or something, this probably wouldn't have bothered me as much.

Yes this is a chain, but it is a good chain, and this particular store was on the way to a meeting I went to this morning. I wish they had one closer to where I lived, but they don't so when I have the opportunity, I get my Power Bagel with a Shmear. Their coffee is pretty good. The drive thru does not really offer the coffee options that inside the store offers. When I ordered at the drive thru, I got Mel's Neighborhood Blend, which is not too bad, but my favorite is Euro French Roast. I should have asked, but I wasn't yet awake enough to think that hard. So this morning I was delighted to see that this store had a drive thru. My order was taken quickly and I was served promptly. My only complaint was that there wasn't quite as much cream cheese on the Power Bagel that I get when I go to the store on Shawnee Mission Parkway, and my order of a medium coffee was initially served to me as a small, and quickly rectified when I made mention of the error, even at the drive thru window. The drive thru can back up quickly as it did this morning. I was glad I got through the line before the back up that I saw when I was leaving a near by parking lot where I sat and ate and where one of the people attending a the same meeting got jambed up on her way to the meeting. Tis amazing what a few minutes can make.

*Wah Wah This was so bad. I walked in and went to the counter to order. The lady just stared at me until I ordered. I ordered some kind of panini, well it was supposed to be a panini, but it turned out to be some bread and toppings smushed between two metal heating plates. The panini I actually ordered was a turkey and cheese panini. I got a combo so it also came with your choice of chips and a drink. I was bummed that they only had chips and brown spotted fruits as side items. The drink station was a disaster area. They were out of straws, out of lids, and trash littered the countertops. Not sure what went on, or if they had just gotten some insane wave of customers at once (not likely), but it was gross. The worst part was that I paid $11 for a combo and the panini was shameful, the service was terrible, and the restaurant was dirty. I won't be back.

EB is not near my office. I have a bank location and my haircut place right around there so whenever I find myself near there for lunch, I stop by. The bagel sandwiches for breakfast or lunch are a great break from your typical sandwich place (if you find yourself sandwiched- out) and the service in the drive-thru is reliably quick.

  • Kathy F.

Bagels good but this location is always dirty, manager unfriendly, most staff not pleasant. For the number of employees behind the counter the etting area is dirty! I've been eating their bagels for 17 years which are still good but I only go to this location to go-at times is do wonder how dirty the back is if they allow the front to be this dirty. I don't know corporate philosophy but they always seem to move the good managers out of this store and bring in not so good ones.... Better location is south of here-store clean, staff great-hard to find tho.
